When getting to know the village, we recognized that Atskuri had a multitude of high-quality hand crafted products available, but no real market in which to sell them. After meeting with local businessmen and community leaders, we all agreed that the most beneficial project for this community would be to try and introduce relatively simple technology as a means of bringing money into the community.

After holding several computer skills classes in order to teach the Atskuri citizens how to use and maintain the site, the Atskuri Online Co-op was launched in June of 2012.

All profits and proceeds will go directly to the makers of these products and back into the Atskuri community.As Peace Corps Volunteers living in Atskuri for a short time, we immediately fell in love with this village and its people. Although it's primarily a rural community, Atskuri has already shown a huge promise for the future via the creativity and innovative spirit of its citizens.
